Isaiah 12

In Chapter 12, we looks at a song of praise.  If we remember from chapter 11, we ended with again a not of promise in the midst of despair.  The Root of Jesse would spring up and stand as a banner for the peoples, calling the nations to himself.  With imagery directly from the Exodus account in Exodus 15-17, Isaiah reminds the people, the remnant, of God's faithfulness and power to save.  Isaiah 12 was a song of remembrance for both individual and community and declaration of hope "in that day" the Lord will once again forgive and restore.  As Isaiah reminded the faithful to remember who God was and will continue to be, to remember the promises, we took some time to also look back on our year and contemplate how we've seen God work in our lives this year.  Because in the dark times, the memory of how God has been faithful in the past will sustain us and we can cling to the promises of God, knowing that he is faithful even if things seem pretty bleak around us.  I'll post below a quick pic of my notes from the verses, noting some of the singular and plural pronoun shifts that point to both individual and community redemption, and I'll also post a pic of the questions we used as we looked back over our years.  If you weren't there for the study, feel free to take some time this week to pray through some of the questions on your own this week and see what God might stir from it.
